Cultural re-appropriation is a concept that seems better suited to an academic text than a runway show, but take a look at Jason Wu‘s masterful fall collection for a glimpse at how fashion handles weighty subject matter. Wu explores iconic Chinese imagery, tackling everything from the brocades the Qing Dynasty’s royal courts, to Mao military jackets. Even the glossy (and often inaccurate) Hollywood take on Chinese culture is explored, via red-carpet worthy gowns that hark back to Dietrich in Shanghai Express.
No stone was left unturned in Wu’s distinctive take on the theme and with good reason. Inspired by his upbringing in Taiwan, where he was surrounded by a variety of Chinese influences as well as a recent trip back home with his father, Wu crafted his most daring collection to date. Luxury lovers still had plenty of fox fur, Swarovski crystals and embroidered velvet to coo over, but there was an experimental ethos that underlined all the finery.

Thank you for all the replies, Cara Delevingne is the name I was looking for. Was hard to recognize her at first in the pictures you get on google cause they messed with the color levels of these photos. Still, a great cast for this show!
