Anna Sui S/S 2012

We’re used to Anna Sui’s seasonal explorations of hippie luxe chic, but every so often the legendary designer goes in a different direction. Spring saw Sui looking to seventies fashion icon Antonio Lopez for inspiration. The sexy and carefree spirit of Lopez’s Instamatics found its way into the collection via a series of floaty chiffon dresses and crepe-de-chine separates. Models glided down the runway to the tune of disco hits, dancing and posing with flair in their dramatic ensembles. Fashion might still be in a minimalist moment, but Sui’s extravagant and occasionally over the top outfits provide an exuberant escape from polite chic. Turbans, sequins, ribbons and floppy hats galore, Sui’s vision for spring is a feast for the senses.
