Altuzarra Fall/Winter 2013
Altuzarra Fall/Winter 2013
Joseph Altuzarra doesn’t design for wallflowers; his woman has always leaned towards the sexy, the daring and of course, the audacious. For fall the designer looks towards that last bastion of urbane chic – the office. Seriously though, Altuzarra cited the idea of a corporate uniform as an reference point, but it’s hard to imagine a workplace where thigh high slits and and fur covered leather are the norm. We’re willing to bet that Altuzarra’s girl isn’t a mere pencil pusher; these are high glamour ensembles befitting the likes of Carine Roitfeld and other fashion rebels. The ideas the designer presents this season are top-notch and filled with a shrewd sensuality that presents a new riff on classic power dressing.
Starting with a series of suits embellished with oversized silver buttons and topped off with leather boleros, followed by curve accentuating graphic looks in black and white, Altuzarra featured an appealing set of day to night looks. Layering played an important part, but it was done in a fresh way – the bolero hasn’t seen this much play in awhile and leather jackets over trenches may or may not work in real life, but on the runway it was perfect.
The most sumptuous looks in the collection, were also some of the most exciting. Oversized black and white furs piled on thick, fur collared corset dresses that revealed a whole lotta leg, belted leather trenches topped off with you guessed it – more fur. Designers are renewing their love affair with exotics this season and Altuzarra’s take on the signature wintry look is cheeky enough to keep you warm even through the big chill.

Amazing as always, well done Kannon on an outstanding line-up. Can anyone ID the gorgeous blonde in Look 4 who also closed the show. Thanx.
