The Art of Collaboration: Carlos Nazario and Tyler Mitchell

Over the years, the partnership between stylist Carlos Nazario and photographer Tyler Mitchell has resulted in imagery celebrating the breadth and depth of Black beauty globally. Fashion, at its core, is a universal language that collectively connects us all, and through their expansive creative community, the dynamic duo have made their visual mark with captivating, collaborative work. It is work that often invites audiences to Black and Brown centers of culture often excluded from consideration of luxury markets, whether that is shooting a skateboard crew or the top supermodels of the world in Atlanta, Queens, or Lagos. Work that puts priceless couture creations on rising model muses whose careers they’ve later defined. Both have dedicated themselves to having real, cultural impact as they’ve become significant voices of their generation with contributions that have not only been noticed but widely celebrated by the industry. For the second installment of The Art of Collaboration series, Models.com spoke to the pair about their initial connections and how their alignment matches with their unwavering dedication to redefining fashion’s canonical visual language.
