Bare Essentials

July 8th, 2015 |Posted by steven.yatsko

Calvin Klein released its Fall 2015 Underwear ads featuring a stripped-down Edita Vilkeviciute, Joan Smalls, Isabeli Fontana, and Kendall Jenner.  Newer to posing strictly clad in lingerie, Kendall holds her own showing off her Calvins among the more seasoned lingerie bombshells. Making this her second Calvin campaign, the celeb status model has been nailing down her role as a go-to girl with serious staying power, recently fronting Vogue China, becoming Estee Lauder’s “Modern Muse” and just this week, closing the Chanel Haute Couture show. So pairing Kendall with three top models adept in the art of campaign sex-appeal is another step up. Creative directed by  Trey Laird and photographed in black and white by Mikael Jansson “The Original Sexy” campaign keeps things classic CK – focusing on the bare essentials, and in the case of the looking good in underwear: confidence is sexy.

Self-Centered

June 24th, 2015 |Posted by Irene Ojo-Felix

Interview Magazine explores the vanity of the self with their latest editorial. Saskia de Brauw has all eyes on her as she’s captured by Mikael Jansson using selfie sticks to take in every bit of looks from Balenciaga, Dior, Alexander Wang, and Maison Martin Margiela. Setting the avant-garde wares, styled by Karl Templer, amongst the deadwood forest scenery, the imagery shows the meeting of the technically created and the natural landscape. In outfits like these, we can’t blame de Brauw of being a little narcissistic.

Time spent with your best friend is always time well spent, so Karlie Kloss and Taylor Swifts March cover of American Vogue strikes a special chord. As an exceptionally dynamic duo the two have made headlines with their extremely close friendship, spreading girl power and positivity with every red carpet appearance and adorable Instragram photo. Mikael Jansson shoots the besties in road trip mode, cruising through Big Sur in a convertible and sporting Tonne Goodman styled bohemian wares from Saint Laurent and Valentino. Jansson’s photos are so good you can almost hear the sound of Swift’s hit ‘Shake it Off’ blaring on the radio as you look at them.

The Family

January 29th, 2015 |Posted by Janelle

Mikael Jansson takes top models to the commune in the pages of Interview Magazine with an editorial that makes living off the land in seem glamorous. With matching blonde bobs and minimal makeup, the appealing cast of Caroline TrentiniConstance JablonskiJulia NobisDaria Strokous and Lina Berg looks like sisters, or at least sister-wives. It might be hard to imagine any of these girls plowing the fields, or harvesting their own veggies while wearing pieces from Marc Jacobs and Acne, but Jansson and  Karl Templer make the scenario work. The wardrobe of army green and khaki creates a pared down (but still luxurious) uniform.

Americana

June 17th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

Mikael Jansson takes a voyage upstate for a rustic editorial that pairs pieces from fashion’s most luxurious labels with a down home backdrop that speaks to America’s working class roots. Wearing Louis Vuitton and Prada to the local rail-station or back-alley isn’t an every day occurrence, but in the knowing hands of Karl Templer the pieces seem down to earth rather than lofty. As worn by the youthful cast led by Grace Hartzel, Tami Williams, Harleth Kuusik, Nastya Sten, Vanessa Moody, Waleska GorczevskiDani Witt and Julia Hafstrom these designer looks represent the dressed down uniform girls everywhere. With this story Interview Magazine adds another hit to this month’s impressive editorial lineup.

June 16th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

The bohemian days of the late 60s come alive again in the pages of Vogue China with Kati Nescher and Natalie Westling playing a pair of luxe hippies in Mikael Jansson‘s sumptuous cover story. With crowns of flowers adorning their waist length tresses styled by Anthony Turner (Art Partner) and an array of floaty maxi dresses selected by Anastasia Barbieri (Art Partner), Kati and Natalie look authentically retro. Mark Carrasquillo (Art Partner) provides the final beauty touch adding on smoky eyes and pale lips into the equation to complete the mood.
