Ten High

If there were an award for cover creativity, 10 Magazine would certainly be in the running. The magazine’s off-kilter frontpage never fails to surprise and for spring the lineup is multi-faceted. With an array of rising star models, male and female gracing the covers of 10 and 10 Men, the spring issues with their wry “selfie, platform, hookup, hashtag, digi” text and arresting images are sure to standout on the crowded newsstand.

Tao Okamoto by Lachlan Bailey (Paris: Management + Artists, New York: Management + Artists)

In news that should please comic book fans, Variety reports that Tao Okamoto is set to join Hollywood star, Hugh Jackman onscreen in the latest Wolverine movie. Directed by James Mangold, the man behind 3:10 to Yuma, Girl Interrupted and Walk the Line, the film traces the origins of the iconic character and his time spent in Japan. According to Coming Soon, “Okamoto will star as Mariko, daughter of Shingen (Wolverine’s arch nemesis and the film’s primary antagonist) and one-time fiancee to Wolverine.” Tao isn’t the only model in the cast either – Rila Fukushima is set to play Yukio, “one of the deadliest assassins in Shingen’s clan.”

Sounds like it is going to be an action packed and high drama extraganza, we can’t wait to see if Tao & Rika are as compelling onscreen, as they are on the catwalk.

A Lofty Perch

November 28th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

It takes an experienced beauty to maintain her composure while posing on the edge of a rock formation, but Carmen Kass manages to make even the most precarious poses look easy. In Cedric Buchet striking Vogue Japan story Kass is aloofly cool in designs from Loewe and Giorgio Armani chosen by stylist Sophia Neophitou. Playing with oversized proportions and dramatic shapes, Neophitou makes even the most sacklike outfits come alive with a little help from Carmen.

For All Ages

November 18th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

With the average age of newbie models falling somewhere in the teens and a dearth of barely legal bloggers, stylists and editors, fashion can be a little youth obsessed. How often do you open up the pages of your favorite glossy and see a mature face staring back at you? Definitely not often enough.

On Friday V‘s ‘Who Cares About Age’ Issue hits newsstands and it offers up a refreshing mix of notable beauties old enough to have a little life experience under their Prada belts. From modeling legends like Carmen dell’Orefice and China Machado, to heavy hitters like photographer Martine Malle and Visionaire’s Cecilia Dean, all photographed looking edgy, sexy and glamorous – just like we’d expect from V. Take a look at this exclusive preview of images from the issue and tell us why you think we don’t see enough images of older women and men in magazines. (Check out VMagazine, out now)

Kate Moss by Patrick Demarchelier

While the Brits are all about nonchalant cool, Vogue Nippon goes for luxury with an glam shot of Natasha Poly sporting big hair and an even bigger belt. The look isn’t exactly subtle, but for fans of over the top glamour it is sure to be treat.

Catherine McNeil by Max Doyle

Fans of 50s style will love Vogue Australia‘s rockabilly-esque cover with Catherine McNeil looking especially feline in leopard prints and red lips. The image is to die for, if only the pouty, tattooed person in the background were Freja!

Gisele Bundchen by Cedric Buchet

No matter the instance Gisele always delivers and the crisp, classic black and white reminds us of that. UK Bazaar’s striking covers always catch our eye, but Cedric Buchet really brought out the best of Mrs. Brady with this engaging image
