Did Gucci just make the campaign of the season, year? Maybe yes

It’s still the top of the year and Alessandro Michele somehow already out-Gucci‘d himself for Spring Summer 2019. A concept of this scale could have easily been a jump the shark moment, but in the hands of trusted collaborator Glen Lunchford (they’ve come a long way since their first Pre Fall 2015 effort), it turned out to be possibly the most dizzyingly impressive campaign of the year. #GucciShowtime calls on the golden age of Hollywood drawing, and sometimes directly referencing (like Debbie Reynolds up there), from 50s films like “Singin’ in the Rain,” “An American in Paris,” “The Band Wagon,” “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” and more. A tinselly, delightful 60-second musical revue by Luchford backed by the show tune “There’s No Business Like Show Business” accompanies the still images. Is Alessandro’s biggest hurdle going to be trying to outdo himself?
