A supermodel supergroup sets the tone for Saint Laurent’s Juergen-shot Summer campaign

Switching things up for Summer 2019, Anthony Vaccarello departed from the expected––that is the luster of Sims or Inez and Vinoodh, and instead tapped Juergen Teller for less heavy handed campaign visuals. Who better to go on location with than the most mellow man in fashion? The last time the German photographer shot a Yves Saint Laurent campaign was back in 2006 (Stefano Pilati was the designer at the time, Teller also took this picture of the actual Yves Saint Laurent in 2000). Backdropped by Northern Italy’s bucolic Lake Como and posed on the steps of the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni, Mica Argañaraz, Freja Beha Erichsen, Abbey Lee and Julia Nobis form a YSL supergroup four resepctive careers (and four sets of endless stems) in the making. The latter two, Lee and Nobis, have yet to have their images revealed. All are notoriously picky and near impossible to book except by, say, divine intervention. That said, walking Vaccarello’s Spring Summer 2019 show in Paris meant they were already in the YSL fold. Who deserves top billing––the super models, the super photographer, or the super maison?
