Vogue China Gets Lost at Sea

It’s a melancholic mood captured at the top of the year for the latest issue of Vogue China. Black sand beaches and heavy clouds provide the perfect backdrop for Ming Xi to enchantingly drift throughout in the Winter collections. In this editorial shot by Gilles Bensimon and styled by Gillian Wilkins, the Chinese wonder pensively emerges from the tranquil sea donned in the latest ready-to-wear offerings from Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, and Celine. The natural scenery called for a simplified approach to beauty, so Mark Hampton and Justine Purdue created windswept, segmented waves with pared-down, illuminated skin.
