Dazed Makes Magic

The winter issue of Dazed & Confused magazine asks “Do you believe in magic?” It would seem so from the singular talent of cover photographer Collier Schorr who oft turns the ordinary into magic. Here done twofold as she lenses the already unordinary faces of Julia Nobis and Rianne van Rompaey for an inside Louis Vuitton portfolio styled by Robbie Spencer. The mix of simple color play and Collier’s seemingly effortless eye turns out a pair of undisguised, model-centric covers.

Robbie Spencer, Creative Director at Dazed added insight into the cover story saying, “For us, Julia and Rianne represent a new generation of supermodel and are redefining what the term even means. They are enduring and chameleon-like and represent a shift in casting aesthetics within the fashion industry today. We wanted to portray Julia and Rianne in a more real and stripped back way for the covers compared to how they are usually seen in magazines, and as such they were the perfect subjects for Collier. Wearing Louis Vuitton’s Cruise collection and Collier’s personal baseball caps, we focused on their personality and the way they would wear the collection. Models are so often used as mere blank canvases to turn into different characters, but we felt Julia and Rianne didn’t need any make up or distractions. They are both so unique and have such a strong presence in front of the camera.”

The rest of the issue, out next week, features Tinashe, Coco Gordon Moore, Nicolas Ghesquière, Beth Ditto, Anjelica Houston, Rila Fukushima and more.
