Tao Okamoto has always been something special but she moves into the stratosphere with the November edition of Vogue Nippon. With the special all-Tao issue she joins the selective ranks of models major enough to single-handedly command an entire Vogue. Add to this the fact that this is the first time the publication has ever featured an Asian model in this way (Tao is the first Japanese face to grace the cover of Vogue Nippon in nearly a decade) and you have the makings of a moment that transcends fashion. This is a must have issue – inside you’ll find Tao as imagined by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, Glen Luchford, Daniel Jackson, Mark Segal and Solve Sundsbo, each photographer portrays her in a different light and each picture shows just what a versatile and dynamic model she truly is.

  1. WoW, go Tao!!! I’m so proud of her as a Japanese model to be getting so successful!
I find it so bizarre that Vogue Nippon, representing the fashion world of Japan, has not had an Asian model grace its cover in OVER a decade…?! That, to me, is beyond preposterous!

  2. i couldnt believe when i read that she was the first japanese model featured on the cover of vogue JAPAN!
    Shame on those people!

  3. I agree I agree!!!
Devon Aoki… Ai Tominaga are 2 of my all-time favorite Asian models… and I can’t believe they’ve NEVER been on the cover of Vogue NIPPON… now we can really respect Vogue China for adamantly promoting Asian girls to grace the cover of its edition of Vogue… 😉 Shame on Vogue Nippon!!!

  4. This looks like a Salute to my favorite Muse, Miss Tina Chow!

Tina Chow is a Legendary Model, designer, Muse and Stylemaker….Harpers Bazaar did an article about her this month…..
