The One

Less is more and in the world of Calvin Klein that means advertising that embraces simplicity. The line’s latest campaign imagery is all about that elegant fall collection and the refined beauty of Vanessa Axente. Shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott in chic black and white, the new ads feel like a continuation of the duo’s stark series from 2011 featuring Lara Stone. Comparisons aside, Vanessa more than holds her own in these shots, conveying a poise far beyond her years and seeming right at home in the role of Calvin campaign star.

  1. I was doubtful about Vanessa at first (considering the longevity of “newcomers” these days), but I can see that she’s destined for a successful career. Lara’s campaigns are untouchable, but Vanessa brings freshness to an otherwise boring studio shoot.

  2. Much better than Lara’s campaigns! She’s so fresh and beautiful! Definitely the best new face since Daria Werbowy… She’s bound to be a supermodel.

And it’s amazing how exclusive she is:

3 Vogue Italia covers IN ONE YEAR.
    3 cONSECUTIVE PRADA campaigns
1 CALVIN CAMPAIGN as only girl.

  3. Vanessa is the new queen!!! I want to see her accomplish so much more. She has a grace on camera it’s so unexplainable. But bless her, she’s taking over.

  4. This girl has everything she needs to make it to the top and stay there, she slays in every aspect of this job. Immaculate face, perfect posture and healthy but slim and runway-ready body. This girl should be on a pedestal in a museum, she’s a damn work of art.

  5. I love Vanessa’s youth, her face is so fresh and innocent, yet has many complexities to it. She is born to be a star! you go girl <3 <3

  6. SHE IS ICONIC. “She is going to go far” is such an old and understatement now, I was sawing that when she had back to back prada ads. This is already so much further than a lot of established and new coming models. Vanessa is established if you ask me.

  7. I love the 90’s photographic quality of these images – not the most provocative, but through the fancy pages, these would strike a chord with the minimalist and purist… ^^ how can we challenge Francisco Costa’s vision for Calvin Klein… 🙂
