mdc ♥s: bathing beauties

Summer is here and when it is hot outside there is nothing more refreshing than a nice cool shower. Cutting edge fashion and beauty lines add a touch of luxury to the every day routine with products that give you smooth skin, intoxicating fragrances and an enviable glow!

Tom Ford Neroli Portofino

We’re big fans of Tom Ford’s expansive Private Blend collection and the line’s Neroli Portofino bath products are all top notch. As fashion’s foremost purveyor of all things body conscious, Ford knows a thing or two about showing skin and the range provides everything one needs to make themselves look phenomenal. The array of soaps, gels and body lotion are scented with the addictive (and unisex) aroma of neroli and amber, a lush combo that is just right for this time of year. We love it and judging by the amount of fun Max Motta and Mariana Braga are having in the campaign, it is safe to say the scent registers as irresistible. Added bonus – the bright blue apothecary style packaging is endlessly chic.

Luxury is great, but who doesn’t love a good drugstore find? Neutrogena’s shower gel collection is a favorite of dermatologists and beauty editors alike. With several inventive products including a shave gel and a full range dedicated to acne prevention the line is top notch and as good as anything you’ll find at a higher price point.

All natural Greek line, Korres specializes in foody scents like guava, fig and yogurt that smell so convincing that you might be tempted to bite right in.

REN’s stellar combination of hydrating Guerande Salt Exfoliating Body Balm (apply to dry skin and then rinse off in the shower) and soothing Lavender & Bergamot Body Wash left us smooth and de-stressed after a long day in the heat. The line’s body washes have even been voted the best in the business by publications like InStyle and Allure.

Lierac’s heavenly Huile Sensorelle oil could double as a perfume, the aromatic concoction contains argan, sweet almond, hazelnut and grapeseed plant oils, but it scented with white flowers like gardenia, camellia and jasmine. Used right after the shower on skin, or hair the blend adds moisture, softness and a gorgeous sheen.

You can’t talk about smoother skin without getting back to basics: The Body Shop’s bestselling Body Butters have been a favorite for years: admit it, you had one in your purse back in high school.

Juara’s Candlenut Hand & Body Balm is a new favorite of ours, the non greasy formula is designed to moisturize the driest skin and contains candelnut oil, an Indonesian remedy “known for its high content of essential fatty acids, which has been used for centuries in Indonesia to treat dry, rough skin.” A lot products make promises, but this really works – we tested it on rough elbows, cracked hands and cuticles in desperate need of hydration and it made all three look great.

  1. Mmmm all so delicious. And I must admit…a splash of Max Motta would be divine right about now!

    Tom Ford’ line is heavenly.

I love this new bar soap from Eshu – the “Cleansing Brick” – a great summer wash.

Korres is one of my favorite purveyors of skincare. I frequent the shop on Wooster.
The Vanilla Guava body moisturizer is a summer favorite. It’s quite light and beautifully but subtlely fragrant.
