Though American Vogue rarely uses models, how wonderful that most of the other Vogues still do! Here’s a roundup of some of our favorite January Vogues from around the world (and a bonus February one thrown in).  Note the elegant arms and hands of all of the cover ladies. Whether gracefully placed on the face or striking the classic arms akimbo pose there is a reason that these are the supermodels of today.

Freja Beha Erichsen for Vogue Nippon February 2009.

Daria Werbowy by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin for Vogue Nippon January 2009.

Naomi Campbell by Mario Sorrenti for Vogue China January 2009. Styled by Andrew Richardson

Toni Garrn by Tom Munro for Vogue Russia January 2009.

Coco Rocha by Arthur Elgort for Vogue Espana January 2009

Isabeli Fontana by Vincent Peters for Vogue Germany January 2009

Agyness Deyn by David Byun for Vogue Korea January 2009, all covers from the Fashion Spot.

  1. Yes, All of them look better and hotter!
what’s most surprise me is I don’t even recognize Freja Beha with platinum blond hair.

She looks great in it! Unfortunately, I don’t know any language. 🙁 I want to buy all of them! ;p

  2. I love them all, my favorite is the Vogue Korea cover with Agyness Deyn. It’s such a shame that Amerian Vogue just does’nt use models.

  3. i totally agree with nolan.
    i love korean vogue most~!
but my choice about the ugliest cover goes to
    chinese vogue.
    what is wrong with them.
I can;t hardly find the good cover in
    chinese vogue.
they, moreover, always use only chinese models

  4. Ugh, I hate that Vogue Nippon decided to paste the text over the girls’ faces, especially Daria’s. It’s just odd and serves no purpose. The girls all look great, though, and while I’m always an advocate for a woman’s natural hair color, Freja’s new ‘do is interesting. I’m excited to see it in motion on the runway.

  5. I’ve died and gone to Vogue heaven.
That was almost too much to handle. Bless you Betty!
    Christmas has come early.
    **INCREDIBLE covers**
I don’t know which I like the most, but yes Isabeli looks ravishing. Naomi and Daria; wer-kin’-it! Freja looks great like that hair. And Agyness just looks stunning.

  6. (LOL) I too feel like I won the Vogue cover lotto. (smile) I love Agyness for Vogue Korea. Very Marilyn Monroe-esque, and her hair is killer!!! Like Freja’s change of hair. Isabeli; drop dead gorgeous. Naomi is still workin it into 2009. Since her Vogue Italia cover in July, she has done covers for iD(August), Pop(August), V(September), Numero(November), Mixte(December) and this makes the fourth Vogue cover. (Vogue Italia-July, Vogue Brazil-August, Vogue Russia-December) She just keep getting better.

    Thanks Betty.
And Merry Christmas everyone at MDC

  7. I am loving loving the Naomi cover…She had
so much love from fashion in 2008. and she starts off 2009 with a vogue cover…Loving it.

Agy’s cover is fabulous…I wish American vogue would wake up

  8. Well the fact of the matter is that the American market is celebrity driven, they move the magazines… unless celebrity models are on the cover (which is still a difficult sell) it may seem like a lost cause.
I suppose alot of ground work has to be laid before American Vogue can shift away from celebrities. Unless one is a die hard model lover, you probably don’t care much about seeing them on the cover.
Which is unfortunate, because for many of us here, fashion and models go hand in hand.

But at the same time, it doesn’t have to be either or. American Vogue should mix it up, using celebrities sometimes and models the rest.

  9. It took me a second to believe that the last one was Agyness, she looks so different!!!

I think Toni and Freja’s covers are my favourite, Toni eyes are stunning.
