Ami Sioux is a photographer and director who has photographed for Self Service, i-D magazine and Vogue Paris along with many other international magazines. S/he has photographed campaigns for Hermes, Nike and Timberland. Currently Ami splits time between California, Tokyo and Paris.
Ami's work is based on an intimacy, one that demands a certain presence of the subjects in h/er images. When shooting it's as if h/er camera dances with the subject, finding a way to reveal a hesitance or moment where the intention of each person s/he photographs is bared, present and alive, unveiling that elusive space between public projection and personal introspection.
Ami has photographed four books; From the Road in 2018, Tokyo 35ºN in 2017, Paris 48°N in 2012 and Reykjavik 64ºN in 2010, and is the publisher of ZINE with Langley Fox Hemingway, Caroline de Maigret and Gia Coppola. S/he is currently working on h/er next book and upcoming exhibition in the fall of 2023.
