Inspired by the lines of sand dunes, hairstylist Kayla MiChele created an innovative faux eyeliner by sculpting strands of hair with Oribe Rock Hard Gel around the eye.

The texture and beauty of sand dunes serve as the starting point for a story that pushes the limits of beauty in dramatic black and white. Makeup artist Erin Parsons and hair stylist Kayla MiChele share how they brought the look to life on Rose Smith.

“The bold silhouette of a chin length bob haircut is accentuated as Kayla MiChele sculpted into the ends symmetrical points to frame the jawline using Oribe Gel Serum.

“Face tapes were used to create symmetry while brows become the focal point of the look highlighted by a dab of gloss from lids to crease. Groom and perfect eyebrows with Anastasia Brow Whiz in Brunette and Anastasia Clear Brow Gel.”

“Take spider lashes to great lengths using clumps of mascara and individual extensions stacked on one another with Tarte Lights, Camera, Action 4 in 1 Mascara in Rich Black and Make Up For Ever Individual Eyelashes.

“Texture is key in the effect on lips by layering a deep cream shade first and sweeping on top platinum metallic pigment. Nars Shimmer Eyeshadow in Euphrate over top Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Train Bleu.

“Paint strokes were created organically using an eyeshadow brush dipped in a jet black glaze. Follow the shape of the eye and glide brush from the inner corner of the eye pulling outward using Nars Eye Paint in Black Valley mixed with Nars Lip Gloss in Triple X.
