Much has been written about products that tout they are made from all natural ingredients. There’s some verisimilitude to some of their claims but often times it’s all misleading information. Not the case for a brand new homemade skincare line called McBride Beauty. The line’s creator, Winifred Burkeman, was inspired by her mother’s beautiful fair but very sensitive Irish complexion, which necessitated she use only natural food and plant oils to treat her milky skin. Blessed with the same skin type, Burkeman started experimenting with pure and simple ingredients such as chamomile water and boiled fennel seeds which inspired her five product line. Incorporating natural substances like avocado oil, Rose Water, and milk and honey in her products, each crème, lotion and soap, all have a very wholesome essence to them. My particular favorite is the Cucumber Body Lotion. A rich blend of coconut and jojoba oils with fresh cucumber water, this emollient lotion softens my skin while it invigorates my senses. The line cost from $10-$26.
Available at Steven Alan, 103 Franklin Street, between West Broadway and Church Street, (212) 343-0692
