The allure of the ocean was on the mind of Kenzo designers, Carol Lim & Humberto Leon, who crafted a compelling spring collection filled with color, pattern and the ease of beach living. With an elaborate waterfall backdrop and rhythm pumping from strategically placed speakers in the Cité du Cinéma, Lim & Leon unleashed a series of graphic separates – cropped tops with wave crests, vests with open vents designed for maximum airiness and a vivid array of the brand’s unforgettable prints. This season the motif du jour centered around abstract versions of aquatic imagery, serene waves, blue splashes and a sea of fish sure to become as ubiquitous as Kenzo’s snarling tiger.
In addition to color and pattern, the luxury factor was amped up this season. Lim and Leon have always mixed refinement into their streetwise designs and this time around that meant a whole lot of sequined details, glossy fabrics and a special guest appearance by the line’s new it-bag, the Kalifornia.
