Great fashion designers are made, not born. It takes training and practice to get to the top and for many that means a beginning at a prestigious design school. Yesterday Parsons student designers had their chance to show their wares to friends, family and industry insiders alike, in the annual student fashion show. Given the caliber of designers to have emerged from Parsons’ program over the years, you may just find the next big fashion sensation among this years graduates. Alums like Marc Jacobs and Donna Karan are veritable New York institutions, while design duos like Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler and Carly Cushnie & Michelle Ochs of Cushnie et Ochs are superstars of the next generation.

This years student showing was all about variety, with menswear & childrenswear sharing the stage with a host of womenswear looks. Standouts included designs from Vivian Jiyeon Lee, that showed rich detailing and an elegance beyond her years, Christine Hamer’s draped looks had shades of Haider Ackermann and Patricia Gomez’ chic styles for kids were downright adorable – check out the scene from behind the scenes.
