Is Marc Jacobs cementing his place as fashion’s mad hatter? His Fall showing was all about billowing oversized hats whose cartoonish colors & oversized proportions could have been lifted from the pages of Carroll or Seuss. Outrageous plays on size & shape were a recurring theme within the collection, padding at the hips, flat buckled loafers and skirts that looked constructed out of bubblewrap adding another layer of weirdness into the mix. Jacobs’ drew inspiration from fashion revolutionaries like Anna Piaggi & Lynn Yeager and it is going to take a woman with that level of chutzpah to wear some of these pieces in real life. We look forward to seeing sartorial daredevils tackle these ensembles once they hit stores.

I liked this collection. While it looks crazy the way it’s styled, each piece on it’s own is really lovely and could be paired with something simple. And I’m sure the silhouettes will be brought down once the clothes hit stores making them more commercial.
Now I don’t know how many of those pimp hats they will sell but hey, what do I know?
