What would Audrey do? The question weighed heavy on Thakoon Panichgul’s mind this season, with the legendary Miss Hepburn taking a spot on his inspiration board and defining the off-kilter classicism of the hair and makeup look for his show. The fall look isn’t Breakfast at Tiffany’s rehash, but instead a modernization of the retro sensibility: 60s style trenches were given a sci-fi lacquer finish, cocktail dresses were covered in shots of LED lights, this was the past through the lens of fashion’s future. We’ve become accustomed to wild prints and bold color on the Thakoon runway and though those elements were still a part of his latest collection, the entire affair seemed subdued with black and beige dominating. The vitality of those saturated neons, especially the candy colored finale gown on Cara Delevingne, were what gave the show life.
