Out of all the menswear designers who show during New York Fashion Week, Billy Reid might be the best at walking the thin line between “fashion” and clothes that regular guys actually want to wear. Against a set of twisted branches and billowing curtains—a tableau that called to mind an elegant summer dinner party in the woods—Reid hit all the right notes with his effortlessly cool take on refined Southern dressing. There were the linen suits and the patchwork shorts, the striped polos and saddle shoes. The women wore flowy, full-length trousers and dresses that were refined without being fussy. The collection was everything that makes Reid such a hit with both editors and shoppers: easy, wearable pieces that always feel good and look great.
