Simon Spurr F/W 11

In a season that has seen gray suits popping up absolutely everywhere, Simon Spurr—famous for his sharp British tailoring that has made Gossip Girl-star Ed Westwick, who sat front-row, a fan—proved he can still outdo the rest. Besides the characteristically sharp tailoring, Spurr showed a somewhat postapocalyptic bent for Fall, with lots of leather and thick ribbed hoods that completely obscured the models’ faces. The grays and blacks that dominated the collection were broken up by a few pieces in mustard and one luxurious chocolate suit. There was a smart mix of textures, from a soft shearling coat to a blazer with stripes of silver studs. One double-breasted jacket had shiny brass buttons, while another also featured epaulets, two small nods at the military look. Several of the looks had a sportier, more casual feel, like a gray bomber jacket and an overcoat with leather sleeves, like a collegiate jacket. But Spurr still stayed true to his love of crisp suits with several that were strong and masculine, armor enough for whatever may come.
