GUCCI , GUCCI GONE
Waiting breathlessly for the results of the Tom Ford,/Bridget Hall/Luis Sanchez
collaboration on the Fall Gucci campaign? Well you might want to exhale because reports
are Tom Ford found Sanchez's images so --shall we say--uncompelling, the whole
she-bang is being scratched and a new photographer is being fitfully sought to veer the
campaign back on track.
While the avant-garde coscegneti loved Sanchez's dark, raw imagery, it seems it didn't
quite gel with Gucci's hi-luxe demographic who found the rape references a
little un-chic. This at a time when the Gucci momentum is beginning to
sputter (y'know the overpriced Visionaire issue, the slow selling Spring line,
the uncharacteristically "conceptual" Fall line).
In any case the underwear is still genius non?
STYLE COUNCIL
Everybody and their intern is a stylist these days so it will be really brilliant to
attend the Orchard Street Stylists Fashion Show on Sunday May 17th to see how
its really done. Organized by Go Global's Erica Lively and Cyan showroom's
Karen Levitt, the show will feature the work of heavyweights like the mighty Patti
Wilson, rudeboy Andrew Dosumnu, Ellen von Unwerth's right hand
woman Lysa Cooper, Surface master Ryan Colby and the inimitable Ms
Levitt herself.
All the designers will be from Orchard Street, the night will be filled with the latest
electronica rumblings and NY's underground fashion crowd will be
staging its own little Wigstock.
Whatever are you going to wear luv?
REMAKE, REMIX REMODEL
Its official. A highly placed source in the Paris fashion
commune has verified that there is a concerted effort to clean the modeling industry of
its older bold type names in favor of a new generation of blanker teenaged
beauties.
Don't expect those new names (Audrey, Sunniva and Theresa) to evolve
anytime soon to supermodeldom. The campaign lifespan for a new girl (unless she
moves major Amber style numbers) has just been reduced to two seasons. Seems
those designers will never repeat their past sins of producing campaigns that more
promoted the girl as opposed to the product.
So how do you guys fell about a Theresa cover then?

Bond Street. It ruined Veruka's Fashion Week soft opening with the
most exclusive parties of and for that we thank them.
CD-Of-The-Minute 2:
Tricky/Angels With Dirty Faces: Island. Tricky has been seeking out his
spiritual grandfather, Miles Davis and the results are essential listening.
What a sonic genius.
Girl-Of-The-Minute:
Sunniva/New York Models. That bug-eyed stare, that gaunt medieval face, that
cascade of rust red locks: why, its the fashion model as legendary editrix Grace
Coddigton. This is a business of endless references, right!
Video-of-The-Minute:
Garbage: "Push It"/ Dir. Andrea Giacobbe. Finally
Andrea gets his moving images to occupy the sulfurous illness of his still photographer.
Look-Of-The-Minute (Boy Division):
Its all about Costume National and their men's boots.
Design for life!

Label-Of-The-Minute:
You're not going to believe it but the new Girbaud line is genius to
the severe degree. Striking the perfect balance between avant-designer fashion and active
wear, this classic line has truly come into its own.
Stay tuned for the exclusive NYW interview with
Francois' Girbaud.
