she is way too young. what is wrong wi the fashion industry?…

  9. Laura says:

    March 7th, 2011 at 12:54 pm

Agreed, too young. No slight on her, of course. But her parents need to get her out of this before it wrecks her – there’s no sense introducing a girl to the fashion industry before she completes puberty.

As long as her parents support her, I think she will do well. She sounds adorable and passionate in those Q&As.

In some of her test shots, she looks interesting and does have some potential.

RE: Comments posted vis a vis ‘age’ of young models.
Although it is true that SOME models ‘get into troubles of sorts’; we must remember that those cases are not terribly frequent however when they do happen THEY GET SENSATIONALIZED by the press. [For some reason the public is strangely thrilled by these tragic tales]. The fact is that particularly attractive young women, especially if they are tall often get into difficulties that are beyond their years — whether they are a part of the Fashion Industry or not ! The Fashion Industry, especially in Western Europe and North America is an old industry and so are the established modeling agencies. The case can well be made that due to decades of experience working with and managing young talent a good modeling agency can provide a more capable support system for a young woman than many other environments.

    March 8th, 2011 at 8:36 am

    @ TF_P: you’re totally sugarcoating this industry!!
It’s cold and harsh and doesn’t give a damn about how very young girls(the younger the better!) are treated…

  13. Lala says:

    March 8th, 2011 at 8:54 am

In this day and age, we must take age into consideration in the fashion industry. She is very young! I hope someone really takes care of her because she has entered a superficial world of modeling – thats a fact.

Who cares about her age?? She’s beautiful!

It’s not as if she’s being ask to make 50 Adidas trainers a day in some Asian sweatshop.
And she’s not doing porn? So who cares if she’s 4 year old?

    She’s every designers dream.

  19. Laura says:

    March 9th, 2011 at 10:10 am

Think we’ll see her soon in the magazines!

  20. Laura says:

    March 9th, 2011 at 10:14 am

    She is incredible!

What are you talking about, an age of 14?
Here in Holland are models of 12 years old and they do really good jobs and are very well managed and helped!

  21. jessie says:

    March 9th, 2011 at 11:24 am

I am a bit astonished about the comment. It seems that the age doesnt matter. In that way we could expect to see her first nude at 15th. Is it right, porca madonna?

    March 10th, 2011 at 12:39 am

@TF_P and Sasha, correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m under the impression that there is a lot of pressure for models to be very thin. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with this; garments for models need to be one size fits all. But what is going to happen if this girl finishes puberty and is told that she can’t model anymore if she doesn’t fit into a 35″ hip size, and her hip bones are sticking out at 37″? She’s either going to have to give up her dream of modeling, that she has worked for years to achieve, or develop an eating disorder.

It doesn’t make sense to me.

Also, I don’t think you can substantiate the claim that very attractive, tall women often get into trouble without help of the modeling industry. That idea just doesn’t ring true to me – I know a lot of women, some very attractive an tall, and we all get into trouble just the same, at least in parts of the world that don’t treat their women like crap (i.e. most of southeast Asia.)

Please forgive me for my tentative reproach to your understandable — empathetically-bounded — considerate concerns for young models in today’s media industry — undeniably, an industry rifle with ridiculous standards, and unobtainable archetypal images for women — in today’s patriarchally tainted cultural domain — to forever fall in excess of…

But, sorry to burst your epistemological bubble: but with regards to the plight of unemployed ex-models with who are now psychologically traumatised — and without a job — perhaps you could proactively start a drop-in-group or open up a online blog for ex-models to mediate their pathological wounds, so they can cathartically dispel there unfortunately disposition of living in a city with health care, food and water in shop, and all the trimmings that a first world reality can muster…

The fact is…we are NOT in Kabul, or the West Bank; I think you’re too concerned for the rich and famous my dear…

I have the misfortune for living with emotionally congested, uber-austere, aesthetically challenged, pensive-faced Anglo-Saxons, here in North London — why would I even dream of having regular sizes — like them — anywhere near the front covers of the magazines or runways — it would be like some EU enforced legislation…the horror…the horror…

  29. Laura says:

    March 10th, 2011 at 10:27 pm

Sasha, I’m not really sure what you’re trying to say, or why you have such an attitude in your response.

To say that people in the West Bank and Kabul have problems bigger than the ones faced by models is true. But it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t work to fix the problems faced by models, or better yet, prevent those problems. When you say that models have a high standard of living and should be able to remedy their eating disorders, I think you are forgetting that eating disorders are a serious mental illness. Years of therapy and access to good food can’t make a sick person eat.

Even though I am bored by the average blonde model, I think she is really beautiful. Her eyes are so expressive and alluring and her lips are so full. It’s the way all her features come together that make her look so strong. The profile shot is stunning.
