biography

Born in Sudan, Alek left in 1991 to escape the civil war ravaging her country. Arriving in London at age 14, she was discovered soon after by a model scout in a South London market. Since 2002, she's been an advisor to the US Committe for Refugess. Published ALEK: From Sudanese refugee to International Supermodel in 2008. In the US, tours high schools lecturing to students.
