10. Boss

Stars: Pierre Antoine, Philip Carl Harding, Frederic
Breaking Faces: Adam Georgia, Tobias, Matt Kiester, John Stalling,
Brian Jensen
|
|
PRO: Despite staffing setbacks, Boss has fought back valiantly to
put itself back on the map. Hungry to leave the past behind and to
forge a new sensibility, the strategy of tapping into the edgier
energy of the moment is paying off handsomely for this modeling veteran.
A force to watch.
CON: Boss is in the unfortunate position as being seen as
a shadow of their former superstar self. If its one thing the modeling
industry reflects though is the ability to rebuild and “re-brand”.
Never count a veteran out.
SCOUTING CALL: Boss is an experienced agency that can offer good
solid management having maneuvered several of the biggest male models
of all time in its illustrious history. |

Nick Bryant |
9. VNY
Model management (Tied)

Stars: Nick Bryant, Scott Walhovd, Gene Reich, Damien T
Breaking Faces: Dale, Tim Dorans, Jeremiah |
|
PRO: Though VNY Model Management (formerly V Models) is a
newcomer to the agency game, they have already earned a reputation for being
nurturing of their models. It's a quality that have endeared VNY to the
mother agencies at maximum trust level. The agency driving force, Lana, through
her experience in the business has come to develop very tight client
relationships, a background that has served a model like Nick Bryant
very well when the big money clients came calling
CON: The challenge of being a smaller agency is that new
models might be distracted by those agencies with the bigger brand names
when the scouting contest get down to the wire. As it stands that
means VNY needs to work harder on that coveted guy to get him
on the map. That compulsion, if harnessed by an ambitious model is
a good thing.
SCOUTING CALL: Passion, dedication and drive. It's all here
in spades. If contacted by VNY, rest assured that they'll be burning the
midnight oil on your behalf.

Tell / Dior
|
9. Fusion (Tied)

Stars: Tell Carlson, Alex
Patterson
Breaking Faces: Rudy, Timothy
Craft, Peter Stattford, John Holodnak
|
|
PRO: The drive and the focus at Fusion is such that in a mere year,
newcomers like Tell was already highlighting a Dior campaign. The
fresh energy and genuine excitement that Fusion brings to the business
anchored by their strong editorial eye in scouting makes Fusion a
truly formidable newcomer.
CON: It's that new agency syndrome. Fusion is going to have to work
from scratch to build those client relationships so that they leap
quickly to mind when castings arise. They're off to a great start,
so this goal is truly within reach.
SCOUTING CALL: The ability to see the model before the model manifests
himself on camera is a gift and Fusion has this without doubt. |
| 8. Q
Model Management

Stars: Andres, Fernando Johann
Breaking Faces: Daryll Musco, Juliano, Travone, Jason Muirbrook, Ari
|

Andres |
|
PRO: With 65 models led by the likes of the new Louis Vuitton
and Chanel fragrance sensation, Andres Segura, Q has worked hard
to make themselves a presence on the crowded and competitive playing
field that is male modeling. Dedicated to the idea that their models
are full-scale personalities, Q is poised to be a major contender
in the New York (and LA) market. A major bonus is the diversity of
their board, whoever is scouting and signing these faces is very
adept at editing an interesting selection of models.
CON: It's a very crowded field in the men's game and though Q has
achieved an admirable level of stability, it's not their instinct
to call a lot of attention to themselves as a management company.
SCOUTING CALL: The job on Andres alone testifies to this agency's
ability to steer their models through the A-list of campaigns and
editorials. Q unquestionably offers very shrewd management, the kind
that new models would kill for.

 |
| 7. Request

Stars: Adam Mc Intyre, Adam Senn, Andre Dubin, Tyrone Lee
Breaking Faces: Enrique Miron, Marc G, Patrick Riley
|

Tyrone |
|
PRO: In almost record time, Request has exploded on the NY scene
landing some of the hottest models of the moment on their board.
With assets such as Tyrone Lee and Adam S, Request without question
is one of the hottest recent arrivals in New York right this minute.
CON: Unfortunately being a new player in the game left Request open
to the poaching that is typical of an overcrowded market. While Request
has displayed a proven ability to build the boy, the challenge is
to keep him locked in place.
SCOUTING CALL: If you want an outpost that is hip and hungry then Request
is one of the best choices imaginable. |
| 6. Next (Tied)
Click

Stars: Ivan, Bill Gentle, James Penfold, James Rousseau
Breaking: Russell Valentine, John Dietrich, Jamie Strachan
|

James Penfold |
|
PRO: A hungry new team has assumed the reigns at Next and slowly
but surely, they are rebuilding its men's division. With the current
momentum (and the addition of established faces like Ivan de Penada)
it's only a matter of time before this classic imprint returns to
its rightful spot at the upper echelons of the business.
CON: The irony is Next really doesn't have an obvious and glaring
fault. The problem of the past of having to restructure and re-stock
the board has been nicely solved. If anything Next has become a vortex
drawing in disgruntled models from other agencies. And that is a
testament to some shrewd management.
SCOUTING CALL: It's truly a hot spot, this shop called Next. As
a new model it would be very smart to ride the rising wave coming
from this company. |
| 6. Major (Tied)

Stars: Jon Passavant, Doug Pickett, Ryan Heavyside, Chris Collins
Breaking Faces: Steve Gold, Din, Ryan Snyder, Fuad, Adam Crigler
|

Jon Passavantes |
|
PRO: By focusing on an always coveted look: the ideal of the very
classic American good looks, Major has exploded on the market. This
shrewd throwback to the aesthetic of 50's movie stars and matinee
idols has proven to be very lucrative indeed. Most enticing of all,
the majority of those models are NY based, a boon situation for clients
in that city. If scouted by Major, rest assured this company is poised
for a major future.
CON: Major can be edgy at the drop of the hat but it's not
their reason for being. If cool is your motive Major will clearly
be able to accommodate that, but if the big bucks is what you dream
of, that you'll find a lucrative home here.
SCOUTING CALL: By banking on his thirteen years of experience
in the business, Agency Director Jason Kanner has brought a powerhouse
sensibility to a boutique agency currently boasting a highly select
board of 40 men. If you are invited to join the winner's circle,
don't hesitate. |
