Kim
knew in advance that the runway season is brutally demanding when
she first started in Antwerp a year ago, as a showroom model
for cult Belgian designer Jurgi Peersons. She liked the family-like
environment of the showroom, the quiet pace, the familiar faces.
But destiny (in the form of Vision Models) came calling and then
came the insider connections at New York Models and subsequently
Kim's killer NY show season. Now here she is marching day in,
day out to the beat beat beat of fashion that somehow presumes
the model is a indefatigable machine.
Decency insists we should just let Kim go home and rest
but there are the demands of the job. All this bric-a-brac and
madness makes for a provocative editorial layout but there
is no cover shot here, not unless we want Marilyn Manson
and Greta Garbo sharing the backdrop with Miss Peers.
And we can't let her go because Kim right now is white-hot.
Everything she has been shooting has looked incredible and
not "incredible" in that polite way but incredible in a trend
setting way.
