It was August 2001. The intersection of Spring and Broadway.
I happened upon a commotion.
A young woman walking just ahead was causing a kind of
ripple effect as she waded through the mob of passersby.
The New Yorkers flowing up towards Houston Street would drop
their jaded mask to do this kind of comic double take. If
this were a cartoon their eyes would have gone "Boing"
Speaking of which, one of the two suited types walking just
behind the young woman summed up their block long, rear view
appraisal by commenting
"Whatever she does she must be doing really well!"
Curiosity got the best of me (as it always tends to) so I
sped up the pace to scope out who our little commotion-monger
might be.
