The
feeling? Sexy but not a passive sexiness. Instead it's an intimidating,
almost predatory sultriness. The kind that the supermodels used to
reek. It was very clear that this was a girl who was not afraid to
come down that catwalk in a straight line and look the bright lights
in the eye without blinking.
Since that audacious opening Euguenia has flaunted that sultriness
on an Italian Vogue cover with Meisel, in an Only Girl
August 2002 Bazaar story with Demarchelier, in an upcoming
Only Girl spread with Craig McDean for W as well as
logging the J'Adore fragrance campaign alongside the expected
Gucci.
But of the flood of this season's faces, from that triumvirate of
Russians hitting the scene (the other two players being Anne
V and Natalia
Vodionova), it is Euguenia who has arrived the the
least weight of advance hype and consequently the most mystery. So
the girl sitting in photographer Kate Orne's loft, lazily smoking
a cigarette is so nonchalant and relaxed , you'd think she's been
modeling all her life. The reality is she's really only been working
for a year and a half.
