It's
official. IMG has taken Gisele Bundchen out of the ranks of ordinary
model-dom so that she now really earns that "super" prefix.
The evidence? Witness the griping and sniping the Brazilian Bombshell
is weathering after her astonishing 3-cover December Run (Vogue, W,
Bazaar). Now what's that? Three Vogues in a row and back to back W's?
Just like in the days of old, Gisele's runaway success is drawing drama
left, right and center. From former mentor John Casablancas'
graphic indictment of her in his pending lawsuit as being "a monster
of selfishness", to a cabal of competitive editors bitching about
her newsstand ubiquity: sexy, wealthy and supremely self-assured, young
Gisele is in the eye of quite a storm. One thing remains to be said:
the girl sure can sure move those magazines.

THE
BRAZILIAN REVOLUTION
But maybe
the Brazilian Bombshell shouldn't get too comfortable because she's
not the sole candidate rocking that "Girl from Ipanema" visual
anymore. Marilyn's Caroline Ribeiro is kicking up quite the storm
now that she's Gucci's signature girl for Spring 2000 and emerged as
Donatella Versace's key girl at her recent couture show. Not
wanting to be left out of the power loop created by Mario Testino,
lensdon Steven Meisel has latched on quite tenaciously to Miss
Ribeiro, dropping her onto the cover of Vogue Italia even as she's now
positioned as the newest "American Vogue" girl. Then there
is Fernanda Tavares back in the mix with her Ralph Lauren campaign,
even as Adriana Lima locks down a Victoria Secrets campaign,
ID's Raquel Zimmerman rides Armani Exchange and MODELS.com's
covergirl Alessandra Ambrosio emerges as the newest Guess Girl.
Viva la Revolution!
