NEWSTAND STAR

Shrewdly addressing fashion's great forgotten demographic (the fashion savvy young twenty something), Nylon magazine has leapt ahead of the competition to emerge as a veritable market leader. At a time when most commercial fashion magazines present celebrity safe covers, Nylon has used the strategy of hinging the magazine to the hippest new models ( Bekah Jenkins, Ana Claudia and Devon Aoki ) shot by the coolest young photographers (John Scaisbrick, Peter Robathan, and Jan Dikkers). The results as seen in the current Stella Tennant issue are inarguable. Check your local newsstand for the evidence.

GIRL OF THE MINUTE

You are a fragile, elegant Ethiopian teenager and you were flown into Milan by Tom Ford exclusively for the Fall 2000 Gucci show. You've just shot Nylon with Derek Santini, Harper's Bazaar with both Mikeal Jansson and David Sims, Elle with Gilles Bensimon, and most tellingly of all American Vogue with Steven Meisel. Now what in the world is next? For19 year old Liya, IMG's hot new African diva shaking up the modeling scene, the options literally appear to be limitless. Watch you summer books very closely.
