Rick Owens Fall/Winter 2011
Posted by stephan | March 4th, 2011

Rick Owens specializes in clothes for the gothic nomad and this season was no exception; all manner of capes, hoods, furs and of course leathers were all on display. Add in the layered mix of textures and those nearly thigh high wedge boots and you have the makings of one seriously fashionable vagabond, but this was far from a one note collection. Owens offered up something slinky, by way of sleek leather skirts and a series of form fitting black dresses toughened up with those aforementioned boots. On the sportswear front, Owens delivered his own take on the ubiquitous puffer jacket with a strong shouldered and dramatic shape that puts other coats to shame. All in all this was a strong showing, from one of fashion’s true masters.

Oh wow! Rick Owens work here is awesome and inspiring… Such beautiful designs, patterns and clothes- what a great, unique designer, love it- very sculptive, flowing, chic, and cyberpunkish, very hot, and those boots- viciously cool!

The subtly in colors blended with the austerity of the overflowing intermixed textures create this totality of a pure and overwhelming volume. It is his definite desire to create clothing that embodies art and vice versa that exhibits these fantastical and unique outfits. What a beautiful show!
