Preen Fall/Winter 2011

Posted by Stephan Moskovic | February 17th, 2011

There was something in the atmosphere at Preen this season, from the moment Arizona Muse strode down the catwalk in a triply printed top, you knew you were in for a treat. Too often elegance and modernity are separate entities in fashion; most collections are either wholly refined and utterly boring, or innovative yet unwearable. Preen’s Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi have found the point where beauty and ingenuity meet, their streamlined fall collection features a bold set of nuanced shapes and striking colors. The influence of the California Arts and Crafts movement is evident in the geometric prints reminiscent of Batchelder tiles. Art history references aside, Preen has plenty of offer in terms of sleek shapes and cuts. Everything was there this season; pencil skirts with slits down the middle, belted dresses and blouses, crystal embellishments and of course a touch of fur. An enterprising girl could build her entire fall wardrobe with Preen separates and never want for anything more.

The collection is dazzling. Thrilled that it’s featured on MDX, hoped it would’ve.
I found the pieces to be oh so spellbinding. Very fresh textiles, innovatove surface gradient and cuts. I loved it. Perhaps my favorite Preen collecetion thus far and one of my top collections of this most splendid show season.

The beauty of the parade was beautiful and innovative, highlighting the natural beauty of the female face and hair with wet look. The game was great prints and textures
