Phillip Lim SS14

When we say 3.1 Phillip Lim put on a rock show this season we’re not talking about anything involving guitars and a drumkit. Looking underground – deep underground – Lim found inspiration in rock formations and their intricate layered patterns. Lim worked his theme into almost every look, with swirls and crystal clusters transformed into bold prints on cropped pants, colorful waves on sheer dresses and crystal covered shoes. Even Lim’s popular range of accessories got a touch of geode glam with marbleized versions that were instantly appealing. On the whole, this was Lim doing what he does best – artfully interpreting an unusual reference point into ensembles palatable to the well-heeled masses. Expect to see those subtly embroidered shift dresses on all the right girls the minute they hit stores.
