Mugler Fall/Winter 2013
Mugler Fall/Winter 2013
You can always expect originality from Nicola Formichetti and for fall he and womenswear designer Sebastien Peigné began with the idea of stylish Mugler time travelers, a concept that resulted in an elegant merge of past and present. If the chic stewardesses of 1960s Pan Am flights reemerged on the scene they’d no doubt wear the sleek Mugler suiting. Delivered in crisp shades of cream and sherbet, the cocoon-like jackets and padded skirts looked fetching on the runway and called to mind a simpler time without becoming mired in nostalgia.
Elsewhere on the Mugler runway looks plunged in to a sexy take on futurism, with slinky dresses, peeks of midriff and glossy leggings providing a visual punch. Even the house’s take on winter traditions like fur seemed steeped in science fiction, with hints of metallic and oblong cutouts adding interest, while cropped short sleeved furs paired with inky reflective leggings looked luxurious, albeit slightly impractical. That said, Mugler has never been about functionality and the imaginative ideas presented on the runway this season are sure to inspire plenty of sartorial moments off the runway.
