Duckie Brown S/S 13
Duckie Brown S/S 13
As Daniel Silver and Steven Cox gear up to present their first collection for Perry Ellis (yes, that’s right, Perry Ellis) next week, they sent out a Spring 2013 collection for their own Duckie Brown line that served as a reminder of their skills with proportion and cut that helped land them that plum big-brand job. Working with a canvas of denims and plaids, the pair sent out a series of clean looks with a smooth coherence of form. But even seemingly standard denim jackets and shirts were touched with quirky twists like exposed backs or ruffled waists. Duckie Brown has always been known for their subversive proportions, and the drop-crotch trousers here were finished off with oversize cuffs and at times with what appeared to be half a sportcoat wrapped around the front like an apron. Taylor Cowan’s black denim “flower bomber,” with an explosion of voluminous petals bursting out the front, had a sculptural beauty that stood out amongst the otherwise strict lines of the collection. We can’t wait to see them bring their unique sensibility to the big time.

Thanks for the great review – and amazing photos
One correction: Martin Cullen did the hair for the show. Eugene who is a friend of ours – dropped by the show and helped Martin out. Martin is Eugene’s first assistant on most shows – but for Duckie Brown he was the lead
Thanks,
Daniel
