Antonio Azzuolo S/S 13

Spring 2013 might just be Antonio Azzuolo’s breakout season. After years working anonymously for houses like Ralph Lauren and Hermès, he launched his own namesake collection in 2008 and, since then, has been slowly building a loyal following, as evinced by his selection as a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist in 2011 and his nomination for the CFDA Swarovski award for menswear earlier this year. His latest collection found him revisiting suiting, one of his strengths, with a number of cool, clean looks that were loosened up by street-ready sneakers. The silhouette was long and loose, with vests that draped midway down the thigh and David Hlinka’s shorts ripped off just below the knees. There were shots of neon patterns in the otherwise soft and pale palette, as in a fire engine-red jacquard, but colors mostly stayed on the subtler side. There was an enjoyable and refreshing sense of excitement to the clothes, a unique vision that is sure to gain Azzuolo many more fans.
