Especially something so trivial such as speaking to your friend (yea, so what you dated him 12 years ago, he is really just a friend, or you would be with HIM now. RIGHT?) You have every right to speak to whomever you please. Besides, your boyfriend seems to be the touchy sort who does not make it easy on his partner to be relaxed and open. That is HIS problem.
