Traveling at the very back of the hard science train, Complexity, the appropriately titled
scientific "movement", has had the proverbial, bad track record dogging it, and
yet it refuses to be derailed. The tendency of its practitioners to extrapolate from
Boolean hyper cubes to the existence of God has rendered it the most infuriatingly opaque
academic field since (ahem) "deconstruction". But like the deconstruction that
left the safe haven of hermetic academia only to be ravaged as a pop-buzzword fit only for
Belgian fashion designers, be prepared for the inevitable trickle down of this virulent
body of ideas into everyday culture. |
