Ex choirboy turned folk-soul singer Ke Grevois has been the subject of one the most enviable marketing campaign for a new artist-ever. Off the bat high end music videos --collaborations with the super-hip LA songwriter Bruce Roberts. ,the cryptic glimpse in The Styles Of The Times-unleashed just in time for his stint down the runway for John Bartlett. Then there was our uneventful shopping expedition to a hip West Village boutique only to stumble onto a trayfull of comp copies of Strange World, the lead off single from the debut CD I am { - } . BMG/RCA obviously ain't playing on this one. Settling down with the CD one navigates a desolate aural landscape where Ke's piercing vocals ripple like a tattered flag in the wilderness wind -or something like that. The accolades that invoke Bjork,Joni Mitchell, George Micheal and The Cranberries are well deserved. With all this mystique swirling around, it was clearly time to track down the man called Ke'. We called on hip-hop futurist Mank to do the honors.
