Seeing Stars

It may be a mere coincidence but hopefully it’s something more positive- 4 eye-catching covers with some of our favorite black models of today. A shift is indeed rising: Joan Smalls on the cover of Lucky Magazine (normally reserved for celebrities), Binx Walton fronting Vogue Espana, Aya Jones gracing Numéro and Liya Kebede returning once again for a Vogue Paris cover (and the first black model on the cover since 2010’s issue with then new face, Rose Cordero). At any rate, we feel it’s a fantastic step in the right direction. With the return of models commandeering the covers of the major fashion glossies in the past year, we really hope that these four covers are but the beginning of this trend of including beauties of all colors.

Liya Kebede by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin for Vogue Paris

Joan Smalls by Miguel Reveriego (Camilla Lowther Management) for Lucky Magazine

Binx Walton by Nico (New York: ArtList NY, Berlin: Shotview Photographers Management, Paris: ArtList Paris) for Vogue Espana

Aya Jones by Daniel Sannwald (Management + Artists) for Numero

The Amanda Show

August 27th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

Nothing like an old school glamour girl to set hearts racing and get photographers inspired. At the moment the exquisite Amanda Wellsh is exactly that girl and her steady stream of only girl editorials in top tier publications shows exactly why she’s so in demand. Whether she’s channelling Béatrice Dalle in Vogue Paris, or taking it back to the swinging sixties for Vogue Australia, Amanda is always the right choice. No wonder photographers like Glen Luchford (Art Partner), Benny Horne, Sebastian Kim (Management + Artists) and Ezra Petronio can’t get enough.

A Touch of Pink

April 23rd, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

As one of modeling’s premier sex symbols Adriana Lima is notable in part for her ability to convey sensuality in her photographs. Even in a jeans an a t-shirt Lima manages to bring an elegant carnality in front of the camera, so when she’s wearing barely there selections from Agent Provocateur and Miu Miu she’s downright irresistible. Miguel Reveriego taps into Lima’s sensuous side for Vogue Espana with a cover story shot against an idyllic beach backdrop and featuring a Belen Antolin selected array of pale rose ensembles, each one more revealing than the last. True to form Lima amps up the seductiveness – making the pastel hued designer wares look downright delectable.

Behati in Paradise

March 26th, 2014 |Posted by Matthew

Ah, to be Behati Prinsloo. During a recent spot on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the 24-year-old Namibian beauty joked about the misfortune of supermodels like herself who must travel to exotic and glamourous locations, like a little placed called St. Barths. Fulfilling the demands of her career, naturally, Behati jets to the beaches of Tulum in her latest editorial for Vogue Espana. Shot by Greg Kadel, the Victoria’s Secret Angel romps about in a more natural state, relaxing in Havana Laffitte’s summer-ready looks and flashing more than a few joyful grins.

Shayk Shack

When a model crosses over from the sexy market to the editorial pages the end result is always a compelling mix of high fashion gravitas and red, hot sensuality.
