Grey Areas

October 7th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

Grey Magazine has consistently served as a source of top notch fashion content and after 5 years as a beloved biannual the magazine takes things to the next level and moves into being a quarterly publication. With an expanded array of content including fashion, food, film, art and travel the magazine is bigger than ever with fresh new contributors like Advanced Style‘s Ari Seth Cohen. Everything you love about Grey remains, but its expanded content offers an exciting new feel bound to appeal to women (and men) with an eye for good taste in all its forms.

“The Grey Woman is an exquisite mortal. She loves, works, cooks, writes, reads, dances, jokes, runs, falls, flies, passes by, and keeps secrets. She is compassionate, strong, clever, fragile, sophisticated, active, lazy, warm, cold, crazy, magic, and dramatic. The Grey woman makes mistakes, forget things, gives everything, suffers deeply, hugs strongly, feels loudly. She’s human. She evolves through the ages and philosophies, following her own rules and style.” – Valentina Ilardi Martin, Editor in Chief of Grey

Grey X: Exclusive Preview

May 13th, 2014 |Posted by Matthew

Marking 5 years in print, Grey Magazine has assembled its tenth issue, a stylish testament to a history of inventive fashion and art. It’s in keeping with tradition that the Italian magazine commissioned 12 standout covers for Issue X, each pulled from one of several stunning editorials covering fashion, film, music, and art.

Breakout Odeya Rush headlines a cover all her own in anticipation of her starring role in the upcoming summer blockbuster, The GiverValentina Ilardi Martin and Silvia Morani shoot and style the 17-year-old beauty in fashions by Rome-based designer Ludovica Amati. With a stunning shot that recalls her captivating turn in last year’s We Are What We Are, Odeya appears poised to take on Hollywood.

Elsewhere in the issue, unpublished images from photographer Corinne Day introduce the issue’s diverse selection of content, followed by a poetic series by William Eggleston and French actress Alma Jodorowsky shot by Ellen von UnwerthGarance Doré (Walter Schupfer Management) shoots Homeland actress Sarita Choudhury in serene fashion, while style icon Beatrix Ost shines in a portrait by Advance Style’s Ari Seth Cohen.

Models Luma Grothe, Samantha York, and Zhenya Katava each feature on their own covers as well. Luma goes grunge in a series by Billy Kidd (Walter Schupfer Management), Zhenya takes to the graffiti’d streets of New York in Fendi’s Spring collection, and Fanny Latour-Lambert (Walter Schupfer Management) captures Samantha amid the whimsy of Parisian nostalgia.

First Look: Grey Magazine

October 7th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

The always stylish Grey Magazine (Italy), is an eclectic blend of art, fashion, literature that stands out from the pack. To call the oversized hardcover a glossy would undersell its appeal and diminish its lasting beauty. Each issue is a keepsake and for the Autumn / winter edition the biannual features a host of striking content and enough covers to appease even the most insatiable fashion addict. From classic actress Charlotte Rampling striking a moody pose, to a Dalmatian pictured alongside one of Louis Vuitton’s signature handbags, each image is chic but in an irreverent way. Model fans will appreciate the stylish images of Jourdan Dunn and a special appearance by Missy Rayder and her gorgeous family.

The always impressive Grey Magazine never fails to delight with its unique selection of haute imagery and the latest issue looks especially promising. With a wide range of cover stars and images filled with drama, the magazine certainly promises to be exciting. With so many cover options it is hard to pick a favorite; we’re especially drawn to the beautifully done images of models and their children, but the compelling chemistry in the couple covers is hard to ignore – which cover stands out to you?

Georgia May Jagger gets the Chadwick Tyler treatment in an unexpected gritty turn, Antonia Wesseloh is sitting pretty in a shot by Ellen von Unwerth, Caterina shows off that bejeweled Prada collection in Manuela Pavesi’s cover and last but not least, Kelly Mittendorf gives avant-garde edge to Ralph Lauren’s classic designs in an image by Shiela Metzner.

Grey Days

September 11th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Each issue of Grey Magazine is crafted with a thoughtfulness and artistry that you don’t see much anymore. We’re in love with the fall issue’s cover of Anais Pouliot and Codie Young shot by Chadwick Tyler and styled by Valentina Ilardi MartinThe stark image creates a soulful mood and brings out the beauty in both girls. Also impressive, Tyler’s 40 page story shot in the Mercedes Benz museum in Stuttgart. Enjoy this little preview of what the issue has to offer.

Pure Class

September 6th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Sometimes an editorial doesn’t need bells and whistles to make an impact. Case in point: Vincent Peters‘ simply beautiful story for Vogue Italia featuring Isabeli Fontana. There is nothing edgy about the story, but the combination of Peters’ cinematic lighting, Valentina Serra‘s exquisite selection of clothing and Isabeli’s beauty makes for memorable images. The vintage vibe of the entire series is an interesting contrast to some of the other stories in the issue - most notably, Meisel’s avant-garde cover shoot with Stella Tennant.
