Fit To Be Tied

July 25th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Is it just us or has fashion felt a little tamer in the wake of Carine Roitfeld‘s departure from Vogue Paris? In case you had forgotten what an audaciously sexy fashion editorial looked like Numero sets out to remind you with a bondage-y romp shot by Tom Munro and featuring the undeniably appealing Aymeline Valade.

Stealing a title and theme from Almodovar, while borrowing a bit of Helmut Newton-esque panache for good measure, the story is sultry, steamy and filled with the finest lace garters money can buy. Stylist Charles Varenne knows exactly how to titillate with pieces from Givenchy and Giorgio Armani.

Ranya Mordanova is known for having the kind of surreal look that makes her the perfect model for unorthodox talents like Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci and or Vogue Russia Tom Munro taps into Ranya’s ability to be the ultimate high fashion canvas by showing her in a variety of designer looks – each one more inventive than the last. Simon Robins‘ haute styling is on point but it is Ranya’s dramatic poise that brings each look to life. She even manages to take Elie Saab’s classic frills look avant garde.

Sessilee Lopez, shines bright for Vogue Italia. Tom Munro uses a washed out color palate and a vacant garage as a backdrop but even the grim setting and hazy lighting can’t hide Sessilee’s unique charms.
