Putting On The Ritz

March 19th, 2012 |Posted by models.com

American Vogue
Tim Walker
Grace Coddington
Kate Moss
Julien d’Ys Stephane Marais

Queen Kate returns to her throne at Paris’ eternal hotspot, The Ritz and she brings along a few friends with her. Walker creates a surreal vision of opulence taking full advantage of the hotel’s regal redesign and all the world’s finest couture. Kate looks majestic and her ladies in waiting, Josephine Skriver, Mirte Maas, Patricia van der Vliet, and Sigrid Agren are a dream. We know J.Lo snagged the cover of Vogue’s shape issue but with a story this good inside, we can’t help but wish Kate was on Vogue’s front page this month instead.

Little Monsters

February 14th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

If you break from your busy fashion week schedule to take a look at one editorial, it ought to be Love Magazines imaginative and raw Tim Walker story, ‘The Origin of Monsters’ featuring Kristen McMenamy. Arachnophobes might want to skip this one, but everyone else can enjoy the spooky mix of oversized insects and a host of prime pieces with unusual origins chosen by Katie Grand. There is some vintage Dior couture (you may remember the golden armor from 06) a couple of chain mail headdresses from the Royal National Theater and of course the edgy editorial prerequisite, Alexander McQueen. It might be too early to start picking 2012′s best stories, but Kristen as an otherworldly, monster slayer certainly qualifies as a standout.

Campaign Candy

January 9th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

MULBERRY

Mulberry’s spring ads are the stuff of Tumblr dreams, Lindsey Wixson, Frida Gustavsson and a giant melting ice cream cone by Tim Walker? The sugar level is off the charts, but who can resist such a sweet treat?! Shot on location in Brighton with set design by  Andy Hillman and styling by Edward Enninful, the girlish ads are joyful and creative. Those cream colored Bayswater satchels and bright high heeled wedges are almost as tempting as the massive hard candies.

ROBERTO CAVALLI

Steven Meisel takes three legendary supers and one outstanding newbie to create a classically minded campaign. Naomi Campbell, Kristen McMenamy, Karen Elson and Daphne Groeneveld join forces for a striking ad that brings to mind Avedon’s epic Versace ads from the 80s.

PROENZA SCHOULER

Natasha Poly as a modern pin up girl is a campaign concept we can get behind. Willy Vanderperre and Olivier Rizzo create an enticing series of images that capitalize on Ms. Poly’s natural allure and the appealing mix of pattern & texture found in Proenza’s spring collection. The clothes are front and center here and they look phenomenal: sign us up for a pair of those heels!

AKRIS

Akris is known for their appealing take on minimal fashions and the spring campaign takes that idea and runs with it. Karim Sadli shoots Daga Ziober in the backseat of a vintage car wearing Albert Kriemler’s gorgeous designs.

World Traveler

November 2nd, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

British Vogue and Tim Walker take Kirsi Pyrhonen to Mongolia for a story that mixes tradition and fantasy. As one of the last Brit Vogue shoots helmed by Kate Phelan, the story takes on special significance and Walker’s dreamy style is always alluring. Sporting outlandish makeup by Petros Petrohilos and undone hair by Duffy, Kirsi looks like a character from a fairytale. The juxtaposition between the finery of the seasons key looks and the beauty of authentic pieces sourced from the location only adds to the unique feel of the story.

Toy Story

October 11th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

As two of fashion’s most popular doll-faces Kirsi Pyrhonen and Audrey Marnay make frequent appearances in editorials that call for otherworldly beauty. In the latest Vogue Italia  Tim Walker casts the duo as wind up toys, complete with marionette inspired makeup and mechanical add-ons. With a sly nod to drag legends the Cockettes, fairytale styling by Jacob K and a few puppets added for good measure, Walker creates images that are unmistakably his.

Royal Flush

March 10th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Tim Walker‘s portraits are always fantastical, but he has really pulled out all the stops for the latest Vogue Italia. Walker’s haunting ‘Lady Grey’ editorial stars Stella Tennant and Imogen Morris-Clarke as couture clad royalty, but the real highlight is Jacob K‘s impeccable styling: his mix of one of  kind pieces looks completely authentic and goes perfectly with Walker’s dreamy style.
