Timely Fashion

August 23rd, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

One of the fall fashion issues that really caught our attention was New York Times T Magazine. Under the direction of Sally Singer and with a little help from the likes of Hedi SlimaneDanko SteinerSebastian Kim and more, the issue features a vivid assortment of editorials and and an equally appealing lineup of top models. The issue is an absolute must have, but don’t take our word for it – have a peek inside and see for yourself.

Warrior Woman

June 3rd, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Sebastian Kim takes Hailey Clauson to an otherworldly place in the latest Numero with a tribal story styled by Charles Varenne. The combination of fierce accessories made from feathers and bone and inventive hair and makeup by  Diego Da Silva and Maud Laceppe transforms Hailey’s delicate beauty. The story makes for a wonderful showcase for Hailey and the season’s appealingly savage pieces.

China’s Muse

September 9th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

The September issue of Muse draws inspiration from the red hot fashion scene of China. Sølve Sundsbø shoots Anja Rubik for the striking cover styled by Marie Chaix and China’s biggest star Liu Wen stars in a stunning editorial by Sebastian Kim. The issue serves as an artistic tribute to the impact Chinese talent has had on the fashion industry itself and from the looks of it the content is sure to excite.

EDIT: This just in, there is a second cover! The stunning Zhang Ziyi shot by Yu Tsai

Sean O’Pry. Ph: Fabien Baron for Calvin Klein Watches/Jewelry S/S 10

Is it ever NOT a Sean O moment? A virtual chameleon in front of the lens, Sean always manages to magnify and elevate the brand whatever the message may be. Here, he smolders in Calvin Klein Jeans/Watches  (by Fabien Baron) and soon to appear in the cK Jeans (by Sebastian Kim). His various campaigns this season (click here to see them all) shows off the modeling virtuoso at his finest.

American Beauty Part 2

The fact that Calvin Klein is a star making brand is legendary. Witness last fall’s POS campaign with a certain Jersey girl with the initials JJ who is surging towards stardom. This season, Emily DiDonato (first seen on Feed in 2008 as a fresh faced newcomer) does the honors for CK Jeans, photographed by Sebastian Kim. Adding to her already covetable Maybelline contract, Emily shows that she indeed, can do it all.

Bits & Bytes: The D&G Quintet

January 11th, 2010 |Posted by Betty

21
The young men of the season’s liveliest party have been revealed. We recognize Thomas Hoefnagels, Sebastian Lund, former MOTW Vincent Dienst and Andrea Petri for D&G S/S 10 by Mario Testino. Readers, help us out with the 5th young man. (image courtesy of IMM Bruxelles).

Modeling:
Lily Cole talks about the making of Dr. Parnassus.

I did a quick interview about the modeling industry for my friend, photographer Lara Rossignol. Lara is a true professional, having shot everyone from Johnny Depp and Liv Tyler to Jermaine Dupre.

She is not the Jersey Shore, that’s for sure! Model Jacquelyn Jablonski‘s on The NY Times Nifty 50.

Made in Brazil said it first.. Arthur Sales would be major… and here’s the first of much to come.

Fashion and photography:
Venetia Scott is one of our favorite stylists out there.. here is a fantastic interview she did with Ponystep. What an insight into her world.

Douglas Perrett‘s malendar (male calendar) is really too cute with some of the top up and coming straight male photographers, including Sebastian Kim and Dan Martensen. Buy it here.

Tsk, tsk.. just more tsk from us for Ms. Lindsay Lohan about her straight out copying of up and coming designer Jen Kao and her dress for Lindsay’s new line, especially as Lindsay was photographed wearing Jen’s dress a month ago. As my little girl would say: Not Nice!

Miscellaneous:
And in case you haven’t heard… Lady Gaga is the new creative director of Polaroid. If she can’t get our beloved Polaroid into the modern era, we don’t know who can.

In the NY Times’ story about MDC’s special preview of V’s size issue, one of the funniest comments was this person who called Karl Lagerfeld a “vacuous, vapid, old parvenu”.

Double Edged

November 2nd, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Two sides of Alla Kostromichova are on display in Numero. The versatile Ukrainian beauty poses for the always imaginative Sebastian Kim and the results are lovely. The color images feature Alla looking very Grace Coddington with a wild red mane and funky ensembles while the black and white pictures feature a sleek blonde Alla. Naturally both versions are completely gorgeous but we can’t help but feel a little favoritism towards the flame red tresses. Which version of Alla do you love?
