Shayk Shack

October 21st, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

When a model crosses over from the sexy market to the editorial pages the end result is always a compelling mix of high fashion gravitas and red, hot sensuality. Irina Shayk has always handled both sides of the business admirably and since her Carlyne Cerf De Dudzeele styled Vogue debut back in 2012 she’s been on a roll. With her latest work Irina ups the ante;  snagging the first Vogue cover of her career. Irina shines in Giampaolo Sgura‘s classically minded shot for the November issue of Vogue Espana. Naturally that isn’t the only place you’ll find her this month – open up the latest VMan to see the Russian beauty quicken pulses in Sebastian Faena‘s sensual story, or glimpse inside Bazaar to see Irina star Carine Roitfeld’s modern day take on Romeo & Juliet.

Made In Heaven

September 3rd, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

You can always count on V Magazine to pull out a great reference. For their Icons issue, V looks back at the influencers who have come to shape popular culture and Sebastian Faena‘s dreamy shoot with Miranda Kerr looks back to 70s/80s original, Cicciolina. Art aficionados may remember Cicciolina for her short-lived romance with Jeff Koons and Made In Heaven, the ensuing series of paintings, sculptures and artifacts dedicated to their love affair. The dream team of Julia von Boehm, Jeanine Lobell and Kevin Ryan recreates the Cicciolina look on Miranda with platinum blonde hair, colorful makeup and an array of lacy white dresses. Top it all off with a floral crown and one bared breast and you have an accurate, yet updated portrayal of a sex symbol.

Legendary Lauren

August 27th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

V Magazine‘s icons issue pays tribute to the legendary figures that have shaped popular culture. In the modeling realm, few models can hold a candle to Lauren Hutton and Sharif Hamza (Cadence New York) pays tribute to Lauren’s enduring allure with a special story starring Catherine McNeil. Stylist Tom Van Dorpe (Paris: Management + Artists, New York: Management + Artists)  recreates Hutton’s casual yet luxe 70s style via classic piece from Sonia Rykiel and Rag & Bone, while McNeil sports a gap to recreate Hutton’s signature smile (makeup by Benjamin Puckey: New York: D+V Management, London: D+V London). The combination of big name talent and chic subject matter makes for an elegant story with a distinctive fashion flair.

Exclusive : CR Fashion Book’s Olympic Spirit

February 27th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

Every so often a fashion editorial looks beyond the usual sources of inspiration and creates something wonderfully unique. The movement and dance focused new issue of CR Fashion Book features a fresh story from Sebastian Faena that was inspired by famed gymnast Nadia Comăneci. Given the popularity of gymnastics and it’s innate visual appeal, it is surprising that we don’t see more fashion stories centered around this theme. The CR editorial is of course top notch and features Magda Laguinge taking on the role of Nadia with style and grace. Magda is even joined by real life gymnast Danielle Beechy for a few rounds on the uneven bars – take an exclusive first look at the story below.

First Look: Americanarama

April 26th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

V Magazine‘s trip through American’s summer past times makes a pit stop in tawdry territory in Sebastian Faena‘s neon tinted story, Americanarama. When you have the most pristine of all the pristine blonde models, Carolyn Murphy dressed up in leopard print spandex and 80s mall perm, you know that V’s tongue is planted firmly in cheek. This is a knowing wink to the kind of kitsch 80s culture that brought us hair bands and acid-washed jeans. Nicola Formichetti‘s styling is over the top yet authentic – admit it, you knew a girl back in Tallahassee who would have been all over that tie-dye, leopard print Salvatore Ferragamo pantsuit.
