Tar Magazine‘s blend of fashion and art, makes for some truly unusual editorials and Sofia Sanchez and Mauro Mongiello‘s sexy, mysterious and somewhat off-kilter tale featuring Dree Hemingway is no exception. Masked men, ancient ruins, a slew of Samuel Francois selected pieces from Azzedine Alaia and Maison Martin Margiela, it all works to create an engaging atmosphere that grabs your attention.

Shot by Anthony Maule and styled by Samuel Francois, the edit features Lea clad in turbans, slinky dresses and YSL cosmetics by Lloyd Simmonds.

Using impeccable ensembles from brands like Calvin Klein and Rochas shot in a stripped down high contrast style, Maule crafts a beautiful series of images heightened by Samantha Gradoville‘s strong and sexy presence. The jet black eyebrows, the slicked back hair crafted by Romina Manenti, that incredible red Margiela coat – now this is how you do power dressing!

Elegantly Wasted

Samuel Francois brings his stylish touch to the pages of Numero with a moody story by Yelena Yemchuk. Using the frilly, floral and feminine pieces that dominated fall’s runways to expert effect, Francois creates a dreamy look that is perfectly attuned to the melancholy mood of Yemchuk’s pictures. Anna de Rijk‘s youthful yet mysterious persona only serves to add to the unusual feel of the images; Anna looks beautiful, but bored by her surroundings and with all the finery that surrounds her one can’t help but wonder why.

Heart of Darkness

The aptly titled ‘Desire’ editorial, is a sleek balance of sexy and dangerous; Valerija looks like a futuristic siren and Samuel Francois‘ daring styling choices fit the story perfectly. Even the aerodynamic hair, courtesty of Romina Manenti, looks completely right.
