First Look: V’s American Beauties

April 18th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

As perfecters of the themed glossy, V Magazine never fails to choose a winning subject to center its issues around. Their latest edition is all about Summer Americana, a concept that for most people, conjures images of backyard barbecues and July 4th festivities. As blissfully nostalgic as that all sounds, there is another side to it – namely the influence of stylish Americans on the current fashion scene. The designers, the editors and of course the models who have shaped our definition of chic.

This all comes together in Sharif Hamza‘s simple and beautiful pre-fall shoot. Featuring looks from New York’s premier labels, the story covers everything from iconic brands like Calvin KleinRalph Lauren and Marc Jacobs to current it-labels like Altuzarra, all in shades of icy white selected by Tom Van Dorpe. Two generations of American top models wear the pieces perfectly and the whole crew from current sensations Karlie KlossDree HemingwayArizona Muse, to outright legends Carol AltChristie Brinkley and Elaine Irwin, looks phenomenal.

Added bonus – each ensemble is paired with a girl who elevates the look, from Maria Bradley’s innate edge adding an ounce of cool to Armani’s classic suit, to Elise Crombez showing you exactly how YSL ought to be worn.

Lacey Things

November 4th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Emma Summerton and Patti Wilson tackle the season’s lace trend with an elegant story for Vogue Italia. With Aline Weber sporting some of the season’s key pieces, the story hits all the right  notes. Look closely and you’ll see Ralph Lauren‘s infamous dragon dress (fresh from Rooney Mara‘s November Vogue cover) and Stella McCartney’s popular polka dot number and even a look from Nicola Formichetti‘s Mulgler reboot. Shot in Summerton’s frosty color palette and accented by Shay Ashual & Mathias van Hooff‘s hair and makeup magic, the images are pure fashion fantasy.

Preview of Hannah Holman by Norbert Schoerner for 10 Summer Issue 2010.

10′s always been our go to magazine for inventively beautiful imagery combined with a slightly madcap sense of humor that’s refreshing in a industry that so often takes itself way too seriously. We always look forward to their monthly Ten Heads feature but for their summer issue, celebrating their 10 year anniversary, they’ve outdone themselves with, what else, but 10 covers of their favorite Fashion Gods: Alber Elbaz, Azzedine Alaia, Donatella Versace, Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana, Helmut Lang, John Galliano, Karl Lagerfeld, Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford and Vivienne Westwood. Who’s your favorite of these 10 men and women with their larger than life personas? Check out the previews at 10 Women and 10 Men.
