First Look: Document Journal

April 29th, 2016 |Posted by steven.yatsko

The soon-to-be-out S/S ’16 issue of Document Journal is a who’s who of the here and now, and if the 8 covers fronted by fashion’s royalty like Hedi Slimane and Grace Coddington didn’t tip you off, then here’s the inside to take you there. Starting now, Richardson will be the magazines new fashion director. Casting goes full out too, to good effect thanks to Piergiorgio Del Moro and Samuel Ellis Scheinman: models Stella TennantRianne van RompaeyAlice MetzaEstella Boersma plus more, use their respective demand to bring the issue to the far side of choicest. Vogue China Gets Lost at Sea

January 4th, 2016 |Posted by Irene Ojo-Felix

It’s a melancholic mood captured at the top of the year for the latest issue of Vogue China. Black sand beaches and heavy clouds provide the perfect backdrop for Ming Xi to enchantingly drift throughout in the Winter collections. In this editorial shot by Gilles Bensimon and styled by Gillian Wilkins, the Chinese wonder pensively emerges from the tranquil sea donned in the latest ready-to-wear offerings from Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, and Celine. The natural scenery called for a simplified approach to beauty, so Mark Hampton and Justine Purdue created windswept, segmented waves with pared-down, illuminated skin. See more of the visuals below.

News of the Future

April 8th, 2015 |Posted by steven.yatsko

Resistance isn’t always dramatic and still waters run deep in Document Journal‘s latest issue. “Come Here, Look Back, Move Forward” serves as chieftains Nick Vogelson & James Valeri‘s editorial reaction to the new media landscape, from which a wave of artists are distilling distinctive, sober visuals. The two covers celebrate the unwavering Daria Werbowy and Lara Stone. Collier Schorr artfully captures the irrepressible beauty of Daria while Tyrone Lebon lenses a sanguinely casual Lara. Schorr’s mega-spread includes Freja Beha ErichsenJoan Smalls and more. Harley Weir shoots a spectrum of introspective stories with familiar names like Rianne van Rompaey, Chloe Sevigny and Binx Walton. The photographer chose Russia to portray a cast of delicately posed males acting in dissent from the country’s tenets of masculinity. Document also includes “The Smell of Us”, the Larry Clark & Jonathan Anderson collaborative insert book. Check out the preview below, only on models.com!
